Ingredients

  • 12 oz rigatoni pasta
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the rigatoni according to package instructions until al dente; drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and garlic, and sauté until onions are translucent.
  4. Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart, and cook until browned. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  5. Stir in marinara sauce and let simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. In a large bowl, mix the cooked rigatoni, meat sauce, ricotta cheese, and half of the mozzarella cheese.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and top with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Use fresh grated Parmesan for better flavor. Do not overcook the pasta; aim for al dente so it holds up in the bake. Drain excess fat from the cooked beef to avoid a watery sauce. Let the bake rest a few minutes after oven time for easier serving.
