Christmas Sausage Rolls

Description

Festive sausage rolls filled with pork sausage meat, herbs, and cheese, wrapped in flaky pastry.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 400g pork sausage meat
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • Mixed herbs, to taste
  • Salt and pepper, to season
  • Ready-to-roll puff pastry
  • Cranberry sauce
  • Brie, sliced
  • 1 beaten egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C/180°C fan and lightly grease a baking sheet.
  2. In a large bowl, squeeze the sausage meat and add the crushed garlic, orange zest, mixed herbs, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Lightly flour a surface and unroll the pastry. Cut it in half lengthwise.
  4. Spread cranberry sauce down the middle of each half, leaving some space on the sides.
  5. Divide the sausage meat and spread it along the length of the pastry. Layer the Brie on top of the sausage meat.
  6. Brush one edge of the pastry with the beaten egg. Fold the other side over the sausage meat and seal tightly.
  7. Cut each roll into 4 pieces and poke slits on top to let steam escape.
  8. Brush the tops with the beaten egg and bake for 25 minutes or until golden.
  9. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving warm.

Notes

Serve warm with extra cranberry sauce for dipping. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months before baking.
