Ingredients

Scale
  • 270 g (2¼ cups) all-purpose flour
  • 4 g (1 tsp) baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 170 g (1½ sticks / ¾ cup) unsalted butter, softened
  • 200 g (1 cup) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp almond extract (optional)
  • 54 g (⅓ cup) Christmas jimmies sprinkles
  • 283 g (1¼ bricks / 10 oz) full-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 184 g (13 Tbsp) salted butter, softened
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ⅛ tsp salt
  • 150 g (1¼ cups) powdered sugar, sifted
  • 80 ml (⅓ cup) heavy cream, very cold
  • 24 g (2 Tbsp) Christmas sprinkles (jimmies, nonpareils, trees, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a mixer, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the butter mixture and mix well.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until combined. Then, fold in the Christmas jimmies sprinkles.
  6. Scoop and shape the cookie dough into small balls and place them on the prepared baking sheets.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. For the frosting, beat the cream cheese and salted butter together until smooth.
  9. Add vanilla extract and salt, then gradually mix in the powdered sugar. Finally, add the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  10. Frost the cooled cookies and top with additional sprinkles.
  11. Store the cookies in an airtight container.

Notes

Make sure the butter is softened for easy mixing. Don’t overmix the dough after adding the dry ingredients to keep the cookies soft.
