Ingredients

- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts (e.g., pecans or walnuts)
Instructions
- In a heavy saucepan, combine butter, sugar, water, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring continuously until the mixture comes to a boil.
- Continue to boil without stirring until it reaches a dark amber color (about 300°F or 150°C on a candy thermometer).
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
- Immediately pour the hot mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, spreading it into a single layer.
- Let it cool for a few minutes, then sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Allow the chocolate to melt, then spread it evenly.
- Sprinkle chopped nuts on top of the melted chocolate.
- Let it cool completely until hard, then break into pieces and serve.
Notes
Store in an airtight container with layers separated by parchment paper. Lasts up to two weeks.
