Description

Delightful holiday treat with a rich, buttery flavor, crunchy nuts, and smooth chocolate.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (e.g., pecans or walnuts)

Instructions

  1. In a heavy saucepan, combine butter, sugar, water, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring continuously until the mixture comes to a boil.
  2. Continue to boil without stirring until it reaches a dark amber color (about 300°F or 150°C on a candy thermometer).
  3. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  4. Immediately pour the hot mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, spreading it into a single layer.
  5. Let it cool for a few minutes, then sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Allow the chocolate to melt, then spread it evenly.
  6. Sprinkle chopped nuts on top of the melted chocolate.
  7. Let it cool completely until hard, then break into pieces and serve.

Notes

Store in an airtight container with layers separated by parchment paper. Lasts up to two weeks.
