Description

Ingredients

  • 2 large sweet onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Peel and thinly slice the sweet onions evenly.
  2. Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium-low heat and add the onions with a pinch of salt. Cook for 30 to 40 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Stir in garlic and thyme, cooking for an additional 1 to 2 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, mix sour cream and mayonnaise until smooth, then fold in the cooled onion mixture. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Cover and refrigerate for at least one hour before serving.

Notes

Serve with potato chips, toasted bread, or raw veggies. Can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
