Red Velvet Chocolate Chip Cookies are a delightful twist on the classic cookie with a soft, chewy texture and rich chocolate flavor.

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons red food coloring (gel preferred)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat butter with granulated and brown sugars until fluffy. Add egg, vanilla, buttermilk, and red food coloring; mix until combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
  5. Scoop rounded balls of dough onto prepared sheets, leaving space between them.
  6. Bake for about 10 minutes or until edges are set but centers remain soft. Cool on wire racks.

Notes

Serve warm with a glass of milk or coffee. Dust with powdered sugar for an elegant touch. For added crunch, consider adding nuts.
