Description

A classic and flavorful stuffing recipe featuring fresh herbs and bread, perfect for Thanksgiving.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 cups cubed bread (sourdough or French)
  • 1 large onion, finely diced
  • 2 cups celery, finely chopped (about 34 stalks)
  • 2 tbsp fresh sage, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh thyme, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh rosemary, finely chopped
  • 4 cups low-sodium broth (chicken or vegetable)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (1 stick), melted
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the diced onion and celery. Sauté until the onion is soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  4. In a large bowl, place the cubed bread.
  5. Add the sautéed onion and celery mixture, along with the chopped herbs. Toss everything together gently.
  6. Pour in the low-sodium broth gradually, mixing until the bread is evenly moistened.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Transfer the stuffing mixture to a greased baking dish. Cover it with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
  10. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider using a mix of different bread types. If you like a crunchier texture, bake it uncovered for the last 10 minutes.
