Description

A quick and tasty take on the Philly cheesesteak made with ground beef.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and sauté until soft.
  2. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and no longer pink. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Preheat your oven to broil.
  4. Divide the beef and onion mixture among the hoagie rolls. Top each with shredded provolone cheese.
  5. Place the filled rolls on a baking sheet and broil for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Serve hot and enjoy your classic Philly cheesesteak!

Notes

For extra flavor, cook a little garlic with the onions. Add sliced mushrooms and green peppers for a variation.
