Hamburger Potato Casserole

A simple, hearty dish combining ground beef, creamy potatoes, and melted cheese, perfect for busy weeknights.

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 cups potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray or oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook ground beef and onion over medium heat until browned; drain excess fat.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the cooked beef and onion with the cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, and pepper.
  4. Spray a baking dish with cooking spray, then layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom.
  5. Pour half of the beef mixture over the potatoes, followed by half of the cheese.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef mixture, and cheese.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

For extra flavor, add garlic or herbs like rosemary or thyme. Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
