Description
Quick and cheesy oven-baked burgers using cabbage instead of buns for a low-carb meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 head green cabbage
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F.
- Cut the head of green cabbage into 1-inch thick slices, arrange on a parchment-lined baking sheet, brush with olive oil, and season with salt and black pepper.
- Combine the ground beef with the finely chopped onion, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper in a bowl. Mix thoroughly.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven and place a mound of the seasoned ground beef mixture on each cabbage slice, pressing it into a patty shape.
- Spread a small amount of mayonnaise and Dijon mustard over each beef patty, then top with shredded cheddar cheese.
- Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the beef is cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let them rest for about 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For additional taste, top with extra mustard or hot sauce. These burgers can also be made with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
