Description

Make these crisp, warm churros coated in cinnamon sugar in no time at home.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water, 2 tablespoons sugar, salt, and vegetable oil. Bring to a boil.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in flour until the mixture forms a ball.
  3. Heat oil for frying in a deep skillet or pan over medium heat.
  4. Use a pastry bag fitted with a star tip to pipe out strips of dough into the hot oil.
  5. Fry until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove churros from oil and drain on paper towels.
  7. In a bowl, mix 1/2 cup sugar with cinnamon.
  8. Roll churros in the mixture while still warm.
  9. Serve hot with chocolate sauce or dulce de leche.

Notes

Store cooled churros in an airtight container for 1 day, or freeze for up to 1 month. Reheat in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 5–8 minutes.
