Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two round cake pans.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, and baking soda.
- In another bowl, mix the vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, red food coloring, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture, stirring gently.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pans and bake for about 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the cakes completely before preparing the frosting by whipping cream cheese and butter until creamy.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar until fluffy.
- Layer crumbled cake and frosting in jars.
