Ingredients

  • 1 pound Italian or breakfast sausage
  • 1 small head of green cabbage, chopped
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil
  • Optional: parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sausage, breaking it apart and cooking until browned.
  3. Stir in the chopped cabbage and sauté until it starts to soften.
  4. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  5. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer.
  6. Stir in the Parmesan cheese, and season with salt and pepper.
  7. Cook until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with parsley if desired.

Notes

For a lighter sauce, swap heavy cream for half-and-half and cook longer to thicken. Mix sausages for more flavor and avoid overcooking the cabbage for texture.
