Description

A moist and bright yellow semolina cake flavored with turmeric, perfect for snacking with tea or coffee.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup semolina
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. Mix semolina, all-purpose flour, sugar, turmeric powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Combine yogurt, vegetable oil, milk, and vanilla extract in another bowl.
  4. Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

For a crunchy variation, add chopped pistachios or almonds on top before baking. Serve with yogurt or honey.
