Delicious Shepherd’s Pie

A comforting classic dish featuring hearty ground meat and vegetables topped with creamy mashed potatoes, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground lamb or beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 lbs Russet potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • ½ cup milk or cream
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Fresh thyme and rosemary
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil chopped potatoes in salted water until tender (15–20 minutes).
  2. In a skillet, melt butter and sauté onions and carrots until soft. Add garlic for an additional minute.
  3. Increase heat, add ground meat, and cook until browned (6–8 minutes).
  4. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, seasonings, and frozen peas; cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  5. Drain potatoes, mash with butter and milk until creamy; season to taste.
  6. Layer meat mixture in a baking dish, top with mashed potatoes, creating peaks.
  7. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

For extra flavor, try adding some grated cheese on top of the mashed potatoes before baking. You can make it a healthier version by using ground turkey or chicken and adding more vegetables like corn or green beans.
