Description

A delightful dish that offers a perfect balance of sweetness and savory flavors, making it easy to shred and serve.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 23 lbs pork shoulder
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together brown sugar, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic, black pepper, paprika, and salt to create a marinade.
  2. Place the pork shoulder in the slow cooker and pour the marinade over it, ensuring it’s well coated.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 480 minutes (8 hours) or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.
  4. Once cooked, remove the pork and shred it with two forks.
  5. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker, stir to coat in the sauce, and allow to cook for an additional 30 minutes.
  6. Serve warm.

Notes

For a richer flavor, marinate the pork shoulder overnight. Adjust the sweetness by using more or less brown sugar. Add red pepper flakes for heat, if desired.
