- 2–3 lbs pork shoulder
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix together brown sugar, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic, black pepper, paprika, and salt to create a marinade.
- Place the pork shoulder in the slow cooker and pour the marinade over it, ensuring it’s well coated.
- Cover and cook on low for 480 minutes (8 hours) or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.
- Once cooked, remove the pork and shred it with two forks.
- Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker, stir to coat in the sauce, and allow to cook for an additional 30 minutes.
- Serve warm.
Notes
For a richer flavor, marinate the pork shoulder overnight. Adjust the sweetness by using more or less brown sugar. Add red pepper flakes for heat, if desired.
