Description

Quick and tasty cheese crackers made with sourdough starter that are perfect for a snack.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 24 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the sourdough starter, shredded cheese, flour, salt, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper in a mixing bowl.
  3. Mix until a dough forms, adding water as needed to bring everything together.
  4. Roll the dough out to about 1/8 inch thick on a floured surface.
  5. Cut into squares or desired shapes and place on a baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden and crispy.
  7. Let cool and enjoy your homemade Cheez-Its!

Notes

For extra crispness, roll the dough thin and ensure space between crackers on the baking sheet.
