Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground meat (beef, turkey, or sausage)
  • 2 cups cottage cheese
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground meat over medium heat until browned; drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in the marinara sauce and Italian seasoning, then let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. In a baking dish, spread a layer of the meat mixture, then add a layer of cottage cheese, followed by a layer of mozzarella cheese.
  5. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, ending with mozzarella cheese on top.
  6. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Use lean ground meat to reduce grease and press the cottage cheese slightly when layering for even distribution.
