Description

A classic chocolate chip cookie recipe known for its soft, chewy texture and rich flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light-brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Whisk together the flour and baking soda in a small bowl; set aside.
  3. Combine the butter with both sugars using an electric mixer; beat on medium speed until light and fluffy.
  4. Reduce speed to low; add the salt, vanilla, and eggs. Beat until well mixed, about 1 minute.
  5. Add the flour mixture; mix just until the dough forms. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  6. Drop by rounded tablespoons onto the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 9 minutes, until edges are golden brown but the tops still look slightly underdone.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a more intense flavor, consider using a mix of semi-sweet and dark chocolate chips. Chill the dough for thicker cookies.
