Description

A delicious and warm French toast casserole perfect for brunch, especially for Mother’s Day celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf of bread (challah or French bread)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • Optional toppings: maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh fruits

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  3. Cut the bread into cubes and place them in the dish.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes, making sure all the pieces are soaked.
  6. Cover the dish with foil and let it sit for at least 30 minutes (or refrigerate overnight).
  7. Remove the foil and bake for about 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
  8. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For an extra touch, try adding chocolate chips or nuts to the mixture. Adjust sweetness by using less sugar or topping with more fruit.
