Description

A refreshing and fruity twist on the classic martini, perfect for summer gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup seedless chopped watermelon (chilled or 1/4 cup watermelon juice)
  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 1/2 ounce orange liqueur (Cointreau, Grand Marnier, or Triple Sec)
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1/21 ounce simple syrup (or more to taste)
  • Watermelon wedge, cubes, or balls and mint leaves to garnish (optional)
  • 1 cup water (for simple syrup)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for simple syrup)

Instructions

  1. Make watermelon juice: If using fresh watermelon, blend the seedless chopped watermelon until smooth. Strain the juice using a fine sieve.
  2. Mix the martini: In a cocktail shaker, combine the watermelon juice, vodka, orange liqueur, lime juice, and simple syrup. Fill the shaker with ice and shake well.
  3. To make simple syrup: In a small pot, combine water and sugar over medium heat. Stir until dissolved, then let it cool.
  4. Strain the mixture into a chilled martini glass.
  5. Garnish with a watermelon wedge, cubes, or balls, and optionally add mint leaves.

Notes

For a non-alcoholic version, omit vodka and orange liqueur. Prepare juice and syrup ahead of time, but mix just before serving for best taste.
